Mission:  The GMA is seeking to promote and develop the Canton of Aguirre as a tourist destination recognized at the national and international level – a first class destination both ecologically and culturally.  We desire that the Canton of Aguirre would be an area recognized for its fine quality of services, infrastructure and the great variety of sports adventures that is offered.

Vision:

General Objectives:
  • Achieve, at the lowest cost possible, the promotion of our tourist destination and our members – through both work accomplished by the group and individual efforts and contributions by every one of our member companies.
  • Market Manuel Antonio and its nearby tourist zones (Quepos, Damas, Naranjito, Villa Nueva, Londres, Portalon & Matapalo) as a unique tourist destination and as an unsurpassed year-round attraction.

Specific Objectives:
  • Compete with other tourist zones for the increase in tourism, through demonstrating an image of unity and responsible development.  This development will be based on a model of sustainable development within the context of Costa Rica and the rest of the world, in coordination with the different state and private organizations within and outside of the country.
  •  Unify all of the publicity material to obtain lower costs, thereby identifying Manuel Antonio even more clearly as a tourist destination with a great deal of diversity in its attractions and alternatives.
  • Prepare promotional material for a greatest number of attractions with the highest level of professionalism.
  • Distribute the best materials and information promoting the zone to the partner companies that generate new tourism visits for the Pacific Central zone.
  • Participate actively in presentations, trade shows, fairs, exhibits and other events given by and including the GMA.
  • Provide assistance to the different group and personal efforts that will provide general benefits to the communities and persons within the zone.
  • Act as intermediaries between the public and private institutions – through coordination and development assistance - and those projects that will assist in developing the tourism sector, the local population and the zone in general.

Function of the Board of Directors:  Each member of the board of directors will serve for a period of 3 years, following elections as required in September of each year.  Vacant positions will be filled by popular election.

The board will be responsible for design of all the policies and activities of the Association; oversee the execution of all of the decided-upon activities; and generate an annual budget and then exercise strict control over the revenues and expenditures.  In addition, they will be responsible for the administration of all fees that will be assigned to the members.

They will also call all General and Special Meetings and invite members to form committees to address the specific projects that are to be undertaken.

Meetings and Assemblies:  The board of directors will have weekly or bi-monthly meetings according to the need.  At least once a month, there will be a special meeting open to all of the companies-members where the state and condition of the association will be presented and specific issues will be addressed.  General meetings will be held according to the need identified by the Board of Directors – these meetings will be advertised by e-mail or fax.

Membership:  There is a one-time membership fee of $ 250.00 U.S. duly inscribed & accepted by the Board of Directors. and the first 6 month payment  right a way.
